We offer value for money, carefully tailored policies designed specifically for backpackers, gap years, study and work abroad. Our Traveller Insurance offers:
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office recommends a minimum level of £2,000,000 outside Europe - we provide £5,000,000 wherever you are in the world.
For even greater peace of mind, this section extends to cover you if you need to be brought home in an emergency.
Some insurance policies offer cover for very few activities. Our Traveller Insurance provides cover for over 240 sports and activities, from abseiling to zorbing. Why not review the full list of activities we cover?
ACE Traveller insurance includes security information and advice services from our partner, red24. If you buy our Traveller insurance, you can access the red24 website and log the countries you’re travelling to. Provide up to 2 mobile phone numbers, and you’ll receive SMS messages containing valuable security information and advice for the countries you log on their site. You can also ring a 24 hour line to talk to a security expert for advice and help if you are concerned for your safety. Buy red24 alert, and you’ll get on-the-ground local assistance from a security specialist for any security incident, wherever possible. Find out more about red24.
You may find you want to return home for reasons that are not covered under the Cancellation, Curtailment and Rearrangement Section of our policy - for example, the marriage of a close friend, or to celebrate Christmas with family and friends. Other insurance policies may cancel your cover if you choose to return home. With us, your cover is automatically suspended to allow you to travel home, with cover resuming when you resume your trip. You do not need to notify us of any trip home. Please note: You will not be covered for any costs relating to either your return home or you leaving home to resume your trip.
It is unlikely you will spend all of your time in an urban environment - many of the world’s wonders are some way off the beaten track. If you are stranded or need medical help somewhere remote, we will cover up to £5,000 for Search and Rescue costs incurred by a recognised Rescue Organisation.
Remember that limits and exclusions apply to all covers. You should read our Summary of Benefits, Key Facts document and full policy wording to ensure that this cover is right for you.
You may cancel your policy for any reason up to 14 days from the date of purchase and will receive a full refund (so long as your trip has not begun).
To cancel your policy, simply call us or write to us and we'll take care of things for you. We will process your refund swiftly and this will be reflected on your credit card statement around 3-4 days later.
All our cover options provide many of the same benefits. The cover options have been created so you can choose the cover that you want.
We cannot make recommendations on the suitability of any option for you, but we hope that the following information will help you decide.
You can pay a lower premium with our Budget cover option. This option does not include any cover under the Personal Effects and Money sections of our Policy.
You might want to consider this option if you know your Personal Effects and Money are already covered under a Home Insurance policy, or if you are "travelling light". If you opt to rely on another policy, you should take care to keep the cover current.
If you are between 18 and 44 years old , you can buy our Traveller Insurance.
If you are between 45 and 55 years old, you need ACE Traveller Plus
If you are between the ages of 15 and 17, you will need our Young Traveller Insurance. You can choose this by clicking on the Under 18 years tab. This will automatically take you to the right product. Young Traveller Insurance is designed to allow a parent or legal guardian to buy cover on behalf of a traveller who is older than 14, but younger than 18.
We define parent or legal guardian as: a person with parental responsibility, or a legal guardian, both being in accordance with the Children Act 1989 and any statutory amendment modification or re-enactment of it.
